LOS ANGELES MAYOR TO OPEN 18TH ANNUAL INTER-PACIFIC BAR ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will open the Inter-Pacific Bar Association’s 18th Annual Conference, themed “Many Borders, One World.™,” at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel from April 27-30th , 2008. Mayor Villaraigosa will welcome the expected 800 attorneys from over 35 jurisdictions worldwide who will attend the conference to stay current on developments in business law and practice in the Asia-Pacific region and to enhance professional relationships with colleagues throughout that part of the world.

The Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) is an international association of business and commercial lawyers with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The Los Angeles conference will offer 40 plenary and educational programs organized by the IPBA's 19 substantive law committees and the 2008 Conference Host Committee, which includes representatives from some of the world’s most respected law firms.
Alexander Cappello, Chairman and CEO of Cappello Capital Corp., will moderate the plenary panel, “The Future of the Asia-Pacific Economy: National Competition Versus Regional Integration.” Panelists include Robert A. Eckert, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Mattel, Inc., George Lee, Chairman, Founder and Managing Member of PMK, Inc. and SView LLC, William H. Overholt, Director of the RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy. Daniel Tsai, Chairman and CEO of Fubon Financial Holding Co. Ltd., has also been invited to join the panel.
The Corporate Counsel Forum, presented in cooperation with the Association of Corporate Counsel and the IPBA will feature in-house counsel experts on international multi-jurisdiction practice (MJP). These legal experts will share ideas and experiences regarding cross-border legal practices for clients and the in-house and outside counsel who represent them.
