The legendary Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. once said, “Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society”.
But, Your Honor, we object! Did you see the stunt pulled by Jason on ABC’s The Bachelor? Have you heard what Bernie Madoff’s been up to lately? Perhaps that whole Britney Spears comeback thing is under your radar?
This civilized society of which you speak… might we suggest to Your Honor that we are due for a refund? Then again, maybe we have it all wrong and what really need to do is pay more taxes. If so, please send Bernie or Britney’s dad the bill for our portion. We’re sure they’re good for it.
In any event, to celebrate making it to the other side (i.e. April 16th), and getting our tax returns, or at least extensions, filed on time, let’s actually do something civilized and partake in a chilled Grey Goose martini… or a ginger ale as the case may be.
